About the Program
The French capital is full of opportunity, so whether you’re interested in fashion studies, business, engineering, communication, or history, you’ll find a variety of courses to choose from in Paris. Electives are taught in English and focus on an active learning approach, and if you’re interested in developing your French language skills, our semester and academic year programs offer French courses at all levels. You can even take advance of an Early Start option in the Fall semester where you’ll jumpstart your language learning before the semester begins. Located in the heart of the Marais district, the CEA CAPA Paris Center was founded in 2005 to provide North American students with a curriculum that emphasizes disciplinary study appropriate to Paris: art history, political science, communication study, and international business. Faculty at the CEA CAPA Paris Center utilize Paris as an extended classroom, allowing you to not only acquire discipline-specific knowledge, but also create intellectual links between your courses and the city. You’ll grow familiar with your new surroundings and gain insight into how France fits into a globalized context.

Accreditation
Courses taught at the CEA CAPA Paris Center have been designed in conjunction with, and approved by, the University of New Haven (UNH). In addition, faculty appointments have been approved by UNH. After the successful completion of a session at the CEA CAPA Paris Center, you will receive credit for your work from UNH. Located in Connecticut, the University of New Haven is a student-focused, comprehensive university that’s fully accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE). The agreement between CEA CAPA and UNH follows the highest standards of good practice in education abroad and satisfies the rigorous requirements of the University's institutional accreditor, making credits earned at the CEA CAPA Paris Center easily transferable to US-accredited institutions. Grading
Professors at the CEA CAPA Paris Center will carefully evaluate your work and progress throughout their academic session. When calculating the final grade, instructors consider written and oral exercises, homework assignments, attendance, classroom participation, and exam performance.

Classroom and Information
- Classes are taught by faculty selected by CEA CAPA and approved by UNH.
- Periodic homework assignments and final examinations will be administered.
- Class attendance is mandatory and monitored by each professor. You may access your grades and attendance on their CEA CAPA Student Portal.
- Class size is limited to 30, allowing for personalized attention.
- Language classes are designed to be taken with other CEA CAPA students of equivalent language levels.
- CEA CAPA Paris Center routinely welcomes local French students to enroll in English-language elective courses, thereby adding an international dimension.

You'll enroll in 1 CEA CAPA core course, and 3-4 CEA CAPA courses. If you enroll in the early start semester option in the fall, you'll also take 1 CEA CAPA French language course.
Courses meet for 45 contact hours/3 credits. You may earn 12-15 credits (up to 225 contact hours) per semester; if you choose the Early Start option, you may earn 15-18 credits (up to 270 contact hours). Academic year students may earn 24-30 credits (up to 450 contact hours); if you choose the Early Start option, you may earn 27-33 credits (up to 495 contact hours).
Typically, courses meet 1-3 times per week, Monday-Thursday. Early Start courses meet daily, Monday-Thursday. Active learning components required by your courses may be scheduled on Fridays.
Prior to departure, you will select your preferred courses and take an online language placement exam. After arriving in Paris, you'll also take an oral language placement exam. You will be enrolled into courses based on their availability and the result of your placement exam. It is in your best interest to have multiple alternative courses approved by your home university prior to your departure due to course availabilities. To ensure that you receive credit for the language level you place into, have your home school pre-approve courses at several levels before you leave for France. Please consult with your academic advisor at your home university on credit pre-approval guidelines.

Studios are located in student residences that house approximately 200-300 local and international students in single or shared studios. The Studio residences are a typical housing solution for local students, both providing the privacy of an apartment
(with kitchenettes and bathrooms in-suite) and the environment of student living. The Studio residences are located in a several different neighborhoods across the city, including the 20th arrondissement, the 13th, 15th, and 17th, as well as in nearby St Mandé, Montreuil, Levallois, and Ivry. Living in a studio in Paris will provide you with a true sense of French student life, will allow you to cook your own meals at home, and meet up with other residents in your building.
